Yosi Rodrik, Aqurate: “Big Data is already here”
“The companies’ desire for optimization, alongside the reality that requires dealing with new products and distribution methods, makes dealing with them an existential necessity”, said Rodrik, CEO of UCL subsidiary Aqurate.
“The technology today makes it possible to store huge amounts of information, from sources inside the organization or outside sources, and to join them into one database that can provide new insights about the clients, products, and business processes. In addition, reducing the cost of storage spaces makes establishing such sources possible. The Big Data is already here, and all that remains is to take advantage of the benefits arising from this technology for optimizing the business aspects of the organization”, said Yosi Rodrik, CEO of Aqurate, a subsidiary of UCL.
Rodrik spoke at the 2017 BI & Big Data convention. The convention, produced by People & Computers, was held recently in the LAGO conference hall in Rishon Lezion. Hundreds of BI and Big Data professionals attended the convention that was hosted by Amir Raskin, apartnerat B-PRO.
According to Rodrik, “many companies started taking their first step of building a strategy and their first application in the world of Big Data. The companies’ desire for optimization, alongside the reality that requires dealing with new products and distribution methods, a product of the digital age, make dealing with them an existential necessity. No company is immune – not the banks, not the insurance companies, and not any company that provides professional services and products to its clients”.
As he stated: “The Big Data, joined with the blockchain concept, will lead to processes optimization, the removal of mediators – will make the world more serviceable and competitive, and will make it possible to reach higher intimacy levels with the client and produce a meaningful customer experience”.
“The result of these processes is evident in the unprecedented demand for Big Data applications in the corporate sector”, he added. “Research suggests that 80% of European organizations will implicate at least one Big Data application this year – almost double compared to 2016”.
“Research company SNR Research estimated the scope of the Big Data market at approximately 57 billion dollars, with the expectation of 10% growth a year. So, in 2020 the scope of this market will be at 76 billion dollars”.
Response to pressing business requirements
“More and more organizations from the Israeli market are receiving answers to these questions: ‘what benefits does it provide?’ and ‘why is it good for me?’. The realization that Big Data applications can provide them with a response to their pressing business requirements is sinking in”.
“We’re talking about banking, insurance, and financial organizations that we work among them, that for the first time are able to extract from the data in-depth insight into the customer and his needs, and provide him with a customized solution.” These applications are suitable for any organization that produces and saves large amounts of data,” said Rodrik. “For example, health and pharmaceutical organizations, High-Tech with emphasis on companies active in the digital and internet worlds, large industrial organizations, security industries, and more.”
“Aqurate, a UCL subsidiary,” said Rodrik, “is the exclusive representative in Israel of Talend solutions that specializes in developing an open-source code-based platform for the areas of data integration and management and Big Data infrastructure. Talend has the advantage of being a provider of a complete end-to-end system for these worlds – whether it’s dealing with ETL processes for data transfer, ESB for linking between organizational applications, BPM for business processes management, MDM for organizational entities management, BRMS for business constitution management, and DQ for data optimization”.
Rodrik adds: “the tools enable Java development without any complexities or unnecessary complications. Our platform is fully compatible with the Hadoop environment, and in addition, there are about 900 connectors for the leading applications and databases. These enable high-quality performance and swift data running speed”.
“Thousands of organizations around the world have integrated the Talend tool and the demand for its platform is on the rise in the Israeli market, with dozens of clients from the fields of enterprise and High-tech”.
Rodrik finished by displaying a Big Data application the company integrated into Air France. “This airline, which accommodates 90 million passengers annually, by using Talend has successfully produced a full ‘360 degrees’ view of its clients, that combines data from flights’ internet search, reservations and flight operations, combining the internet, social media, phone operator, and physical interactions in the airlines’ lounges. This is to create a more personal flight experience for its clients”, he said.
