It’s time to get to know Talend – the world’s leading data integration platform that did wonders in the world of big data and is now also used for security optimization for Menora Mivtachim’s clients’ insurance money.
Talend is a data management and integration tool that enables managing in a unified platform all of the necessary processes for producing business insights from the data the organization collects. Yosi Rodrik, CEO of UCL group, which integrates Talend, explains about integrating the system into the world of insurance: “The system had been integrated into Menora Mivtachim to collect data from hundreds of the organization’s systems that are based on different technologies, the data on the accounts, and permissions each system has. After the system has gathered all of the data, it enables its processing and sending it to its destination”.
Last year, Talend’s stock made an impressive rise and finished 2020 with 108.5 million dollars in annual recurring revenue for cloud services – more than double compared of the previous year. In doing so, the company had crossed the 100 million mark that was set. Furthermore, the company had registered 2000 new cloud users, double the number the company had in 2019, and reached over 4000 cloud server users.
In the world of insurance, entities must be created to integrate many databases into one stable system that has as much data as possible. Anat Kasorla, permissions and entities management department manager in Menora Mivtachim, says: “the department deals with the world of entities management and permissions and is in charge of permissions control processes using a single entity management system. The Talend infrastructure enables us to bring a lot of data with different technologies from cloud-based systems, through WS or encrypted data, and from standard databases in several different ways into the organization’s entities management system. The product is a key component in the management process of thousands of Active Directory accounts of the company’s business clients, including creating profiles, updating, blocking, and deleting them”.
It was recently reported that hackers hacked the Shirbit insurance company’s databases and demanded ransom money to release the clients’ private data. For such cases not to happen, it is necessary to have secured entities and a data system that is highly encrypted to prevent data leakage or server hacking. David Elison, head of the entity development team in Menora Mivtachim, explains that Talend provides answers to these needs and has a very high-security level: “Thanks to the system, our clients get the highest data security, the processes are highly encrypted, and our clients’ safety has improved beyond measure. Additionally, the development ability is faster and easier than the team’s IDM infrastructure. The system has a quick learning ability, which answers many of the company’s needs. Furthermore, the system has an infrastructure that enables innovative projects, like working with WS / Cloud / FileSystem. What I especially liked about the system was its stability. It has the capacity for external organizational support and internal support at a very high level, and during malfunctions or server crashing, the system knows how to run the processes on other running servers. I knew the system is highly recommended because we use it in other departments in the company, but I didn’t expect it to work so quickly and so well, and I’m glad we chose it – it makes it very easy for us and helps us to stay ahead in technology”.
The connection between Menora Mivtachim and Aqurate wasn’t accidental. The system has already been integrated into the company’s BI department, and the integration team has already used Talend as an ETL tool. When they examined the company tools that will help them build simple and stable data synchronization processes in the world of entities management, they discovered that the tool is easy to get to know, teach, and operate, and also contains integrations and many abilities that can be developed and replace fundamental parts in the IDM tools that need to be scrapped.
The bottom line is that Talend affects not only client entity management but, in fact, it’s improving the service the insurance company provides to its customers. Kasorla concluded: “We succeeded in a short time to execute a large number of processes simultaneously while maintaining stability. Following the clarity and simplicity of learning the system, we managed to train the entity’s management development team to add new developments and update old ones. The rate of new projects is increasing, and as a result of that, our client’s ability to enjoy these developments and the diversity the company offers has expanded substantially compared to the time before Talend was integrated”.
